Science, Somatics and the Sacred - or
How I became an Intimacy coach…

  • My professional foundation lies in rigorous studies and academic excellence - I graduated as one of the top 3% of German medical students in my year, published research papers in peer reviewed journals and won a research price for my thesis, that also earned me the sexy title of Dr. Beatrice. I LOVED science - but just working in the lab wasn’t really doing it for me.
As I care deeply about the future generations and am fascinated by the mind, I decided to become a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Therapist. I trained in classical psychodynamic talk therapy. Soon, mainly talking felt like something important was missing. Something that I felt so present in the room during every session - the body.
I got interested in Somatic Therapies. I became an EFT-Practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique), and I was amazed by the shifts I witnessed in myself and my clients. I learned about Energy Psychology and Peter Levine’s work with somatic experiencing. I started to be able to put a language to the sensations and energies I was feeling in my body. Later, I trained in EMDR - something that I had initially thought of as a magic fix. It wasn´t (always)- but sometimes in my therapy sessions “magic” did happen - or rather memory reconsolidation and the incredible self-healing capacities of our brain and body. I loved working as a Trauma-Therapist. Over and over again, I was humbled and in awe as I witnessed the strength and post-traumatic growth in my patients. Humans, but especially teenagers, are just amazing like that.

However, for some patients, when symptoms stabilised, I felt that something was still lacking. I did not just want to see them get by, which was an amazing feat and testimony to their resilience in and of itself, but I rooted for them to truly shine - to fully reclaim their aliveness, feel safe in pleasure and explore and enjoy a fulfilling sexuality - I knew in the depth of my soul that it must be possible. That they were in need of care but that there was nothing to fix, that their core had always been whole, unbroken, waiting patiently to feel safe enough to shine again. But making people shine wasn’t really my task as a therapist. My job in the hospital usually ended after stabilisation.

Then, I discovered a new path on my quest for deeper intimacy in my own relationship. I got introduced to Layla Martin and the VITA-Coaching Certification (Vital Integrated Tantric Approach) to become a Sex, Love and Relationship Coach. This was an in depth course based on tantric and taoist teachings, but also plenty of science and even more embodiment work - with over >600h of training, a super long reading list and 4 months dedicated just to self development work - my learning mind was more than intrigued and the rest of me was a big YES anyway! It felt like the missing piece for my life AND my work. The course was intense -expansions were followed by contractions and bigger expansions. We journeyed deep and far into ourselves, so we could meet our future clients from a place of embodied experience. With every layer of conditioning shed, every dark corner and perfectly imperfect part of myself that received a little more light and the celebration of every drop of pleasure that I allowed in on the way - I fell deeper and deeper in love with myself, life and the healing power of pleasure and ritual. I realised the sacredness of this work and the intuitive wisdom in my body and in some of the ancient teachings. Moments of pure magic began to emerge - everything alive felt sacred and exquisitely intimate- no drugs involved (and there is cool research on rituals to back my experience up). That is when I truly made Love my favourite superpower.  And Pleasure my favourite sidekick.

Being able to share this holistic approach with my clients - to combine Science, Somatics and the Sacred (mind, body and spirit/soul) brings me an enormous amount of joy and it feels like I can offer the deepest expression of my unique gifts as a Coach, while I continue traveling down this road alongside my clients. I am forever learning and blessed to be in this line of work.

As a Psychiatrist and Therapist I am dedicated to encourage children and teenagers to take those important first steps on their path to healing and help them move to a safer place in their lives.

As an Intimacy- and Embodiment Coach for adults, I am here to support a different part of the journey - the one from ok and stable to thriving and beyond your wildest dreams. I am here to cheer you on, to encourage you to aim for the stars and your deepest desires and to co-create a way to get you there - with love, depth, playfulness pleasure and tools that work. To Dare to Shine is brave, joyful, exquisite work -it cannot only change your life for the better but you can also become a lightbearer for your loved ones, the people around you and the future generation.
